NIT Durgapur : Brief Introduction
The National Institute of Technology, Durgapur has been recognised as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. This Institute is a University which awards degrees in B.Tech., M.C.A., M.Sc., M.B.A.,M.Tech. and Ph.D. to the students after their successful completion of the specified courses and the annual undergraduate intake is more than 1000 students.

The Institute imparts education in the disciplines of Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering,Information Technology, Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Environmental science, Materials Science and Management Studies.
Selection Procedure (B. Tech)
- As decided by the MHRD, Government of India, the procedure for selection of candidates for admission to the Bachelor Degree Courses in Engineering/Technology in National Institute of Technology Durgapur is strictly on the basis of State Rank/ All India Rank (AIR) of JEE (Mains) conducted by CBSE, New Delhi, and the same is executed through counselling by Central Counselling Board.
- In addition to the normal intake, a few seats are reserved for Foreign Students who are nominated by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and the Indian Council of Cultural Relations, Government of India.
Eligibility:
1. The minimum academic qualification for admission is “pass” in the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English, having secured pass marks in each subject.
2. Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1992 are eligible for admission in 2017-2018 session. However in case of SC, ST and PH candidates, the upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years.
3. The candidate must be in good mental and physical health, and should satisfy the standard physical fitness criteria of the Institute (to be examined and certified by the Medical Officer of the Institute).
