I love being a pianist and a keyboard artist at the same time- Vishal Dixit

Lets get to know more about the multi-talented- Vishal Dixit:

1.We all know about the famous band Euphoria, so how does it feel to be a part of such a popular band? And when did you start playing in the same?

It’s been only six months that I’ve started working with Euphoria. I saw them performing in Cyber Hub on St.Patrick’s day in 2016 and I was like damn! This band is so tight even when they have so many musicians playing at the same time and they way Dr. Palash executed everything I fell for their songs. I never imagined that I would be a part of this band some day, but now when I am I feel so overwhelmed about it.

2. Keyboardist and Pianist. How do you manage both together and which one do you enjoy playing more?

Well choosing one between keyboard and piano is something I can never do because I love the way you can play around with different sounds in keyboard and the way you get to enjoy the authentic sound of piano so I am captivated by the beauty of both of them. It’s just like I am dating two girls at the same time but I can’t decide to stay with one since I love both of them.

3. Tell us about some of your achievements !

Well I have worked with ICCR so I was in Japan and performed in 8 different cities and it was an amazing experience to perform there. I ended up producing music for this comedy show called “the world deconstructed”.  I got to be a band member of EUPHORIA. I trained army students for this big Pentagon festival. I  have judged few competitions in IP University fest. I completed my 8th grade with distinction from Trinity Guildhall Board . Basically these are some of my achievements and I hope that I keep learning hence keep achieving my goals.

4. You are a photographer as well right, so is that more of a hobby or a profession? When and why did you form in photography?

I love capturing the moments we live in! So previously I used to capture every moment from my HTC phone but later on when I started earning money then I got a DSRLR and I continued with the same. I would go to concerts and would click photos of musicians for fun. That is when my photos got noticed by them and they discussed about about hiring me as a concert photographer. That’s when I figured out that my passion for photography can also be a source of income thus I started taking it more seriously.

5. Who is your idol in the music industry?

Every good musician will teach you something or the other so I admire each one of them. But when it comes to bringing it down to one then I would say that I am in love with the songs of Michael Buble and Melody Gardot. These two artists inspire me a lot.

6.There are too many struggles and competition in this industry. Tell us about the struggles that you’ve faced!

Well there is struggle in every field, it’s not just about music industry. In my case I had to go through many things. There was a time when I composed songs for a singer and she launched it in her name. So during that early stage when I was struggling to get into the music industry I was exploited by many musicians but then such stuff is necessary in your life as they make you strong. These experiences made me more aware about the world. and the certain kind of people you should watch out from. I do face such problems even now but I can handle them and get through them easily.

7. How do you prepare yourself to tackle the high amount of competition in this field?

Well for me it’s not about competition, it’s all about being good at what you do. Music is a language to express and one should be completely dedicated to get the perfection in music. So, I never see things like why is this other pianist doing better or why is that musician more popular etc. All I see is what I have done previously and how to improve myself in the next one.

8. How do you handle critics?

Well in this world everyone is a critic. Even when they don’t know anything about the field still they would like to criticize you. But I always take it in a healthy way because once you get to know your flaws you can be a better musician and a performer. But I have a problem and that is when a person praises me too much then I think that they are faking it, because I feel I am not perfect and I have a long journey to cover and so I feel more happy to hear about my flaws so that I can improve myself.

9. Any memorable experience you would like to share with us?

I was performing at this famous place called “Todai Ji Temple”, it’s in Nara city of Japan and there was this lady who showed up right after I finished and she didn’t say anything because she only knew Japanese but tears were rolling down her eyes, that expressed it all. She just gave me a big smile and I knew that I managed to connect to those people too with the language of music.

10. Any message you would like to give others?

Well since I watch a lot of movies I tend to stick to sayings I hear in them. There is this saying “Yesterday is a history Tomorrow is a mystery Today is a gift that’s why it’s called present”.  So one must live in present. Don’t hold back or don’t predict things already. And one more saying “If you do what you are good at then you will never be more than what you are”. And I believe in the idea of going out of your comfort zone to achieve things you aim for.
