What is your educational background?

I graduated as a Mechanical Engineer in 2015 from VELLORE INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING (VIT), Tamil Nadu.

When and why did you choose your dancing career?

Well I should say “we never choose dance DANCE chooses us”. Similarly, I was a born dancer but I started taking it seriously after my first year of college and now its been 2 years that I am a professional dancer.

What inspired you to be a successful dancer? Whom do you consider as a role model?

When I was in college I became very famous because of dance and I took that fame love and respect very seriously which actually inspired and motivated me to become an artist rather than being a bad engineer.

How did you manage your studies along with dancing as a profession?

Engineers are very good in managing time. So I managed my studies and dance but then I chose it as my career after my graduation was over.

How has your life changed while you came in this field of dance?Satvik Mahajan dancer moves shows

I am more satisfied in life now. I feel proud of myself for not running in a rat race rather going for my passion and dreams. Dance is like oxygen for me. 24*7 I feel like dancing. One day of not dancing disturbs my system. And it has embraced me into a better human being.

One of your most memorable experiences and one of your best performances?

Every moment I go on a stage become memorable for me and I don’t think I have reached to a level where I can say that I have some best performance or choreography done by me.

There is more to learn and create.

How has your dancing career been through all these years?

It’s been two years since I have been a professional dancer/ choreographer and it’s going pretty good. Yes there is a lot of struggle and failure but at the end of the day there is peace in myself which is worth living for. A life of an artist is not easy but it’s more fun and new experience and exposure at every point.

How does criticism from the audience keeps you motivated?

Criticism is very important. It keeps me motivated to do something new and more challenging every time. But yes I don’t listen to every criticism which comes on my way. I only appreciate those which are worth for my growth.

What are your upcoming projects? What are your future goals in this field of entertainment?

There are a lot of upcoming events where I will be a performer and a choreographer as well.

My future goal is to open my company and make wonderful dance pieces which can go world wide and make my dance form – Indian contemporary more famous.

Could you share with us a few achievements of yours?

Satvik Mahajan

I have won a lot of awards for my performances while I was in college and now after being a professional dancer I have worked with India’s best Indian contemporary dance companies which is an achievement in itself.

My teams whom I have choreographed have won in a lot of competitions and recently I performed and co- choreographed an Indian contemporary dance on “THE HUMMA SONG” which went viral and got more than 5M views for which we were featured in DECCAN CHRONICLE newspaper and a lot of news channels. In achievements –

I have also acted as a male lead actor in a Bollywood music album which was released in last year December.

Along with this I have acted in reliance trends digital film, champions league 2017 TVC and have done some print shoots.

What were the struggles that you faced in this journey so far? How did you cope up and overcome those struggles?

The biggest struggle was to fight my own fear of choosing dance as a career because in India, a boy dancer is not so appreciated especially when you come from a business background family. With that my second biggest challenge was to convince my parents  to allow me to be an artist. But these all are a part of an artist’s struggle, we all have to eventually go through this and we overcome it as well. Every day we have to prove ourselves and we have to cope up with this sweet truth of life.

What is your message for the aspiring dancers out there?

Satvik Mahajan contemporary dancer story interview

I can only say that all the dancers/artists out there should be proud of themselves that they had the guts to go chase their dreams which many people usually don’t. Everybody can become a businessman, can work in a company etc etc but not every one can be a DANCER.

WE ARE SPECIAL

Respect your decision and be confident, do not chase for money rather chase your passion and dreams because trust me they will come true. Keep dancing.
