Christ University International Students Admission : Eligibility Criteria

Candidates falling under any of the below mentioned categories must apply under the International Student Category:

1. Foreign citizens
2. PIO card holders
3. OCI (Dual Citizens)

International students coming from Non-English speaking countries should:

a) produce evidence of passing the qualifying examination in English medium or

b) have IELTS 6.0 with no sub-score below 5.5 or TOEFL (paper) 550, TOEFL (computer) of 213 or TOEFL (IBT) of 79 scores

Candidates without the above pre-qualifications will have to enroll either :
a) Intensive Certificate course in English Language (Full Time) conducted from March to May each year 

OR

b) One Semester Certificate course in English Language (Part Time) conducted after regular class hours from June to December.

Candidates from the above listed categories having pursued Indian Educational qualification and who may apply under the Indian States Category will have to pay the International Student Category Fee. The decision of the Admission committee is final.

Student seeking admission through International Student category will have a separate application process.
Candidates applying under International Student (Foreign Nationals/PIO/OCI) category have the below options to apply for any programme at Christ University.

a) Direct mode Application
b) Online Application form

Christ University International Students Admission : Direct Application Mode!

1. Candidates living in Bengaluru or having relative/friends in Bengaluru may visit the Director, International Office, Ground Floor, Block I, Christ University Main Campus.

2. After meeting the Director, International Office, Candidates or relatives/friends of the candidate can obtain the application form from the below given address by paying the application fee of 100 USD or equivalent in Indian rupees.

Christ University International Students Admission 2017 : Online Application form guidelines

To fill in the application online form, a candidate  must have:

1) Application fee of 100 USD or equivalent in INR via Demand Draft (Non- refundable) favouring “Christ University” payable ONLY at “Bengaluru” or a valid credit card/debit card/net banking facility.

2) A valid email ID for further communication.

3) Copy of statement of marks of Class 10/X, Class 11/XI and Class 12/XII (if result awaited, marks available currently) if applying to UG Programme.

4) Copy of statement of marks of X, XII and Degree (if result awaited, marks available currently) if applying to PG Programme.

5) Copy of Passport & Visa Page.

6) Scanned copy of photo, TC, mark statement mentioned above in point 3 / 4, which ever applicable.

Christ University Awards and Scholarships 2017 : Objective, Awards,Scholarships & Installment Facility!

Objective of Scholarships given by Christ University

The OFFICE OF FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIPS  is set up to recognize meritorious students in academics and co-curricular activities by means of awards and scholarships during the course of their academic pursuits in Christ University. The office will also support deserving students who may have to opt out of pursuing higher education due to economic reasons.

The office offers the following categories of awards and scholarships:

Awards given by Christ University

Award for Excellence: The award for excellence is instituted to recognise students who excel in academics and are toppers in their respective combinations. The award will be presented to students from all three years and courses and for all PG Courses.
Award for proficiency: The award for proficiency is in recognition of students who are diligent in their academics and holistic education. This is a nominative award based on the recommendation of the heads of the departments. The decision of the office is final.
Award for Co-curricular Activities: The award is instituted for all final year students who have actively participated in sports/cultural and club activities during the course of their studies. This is a nominative award based on the recommendation of the concerned teacher in charge. The selection list will be displayed in the month of March.

Scholarships given by Christ University

Merit Scholarship: The merit scholarship is initiated for meritorious students based on their performance at the pre-entry level and subsequent performance in various tests and examinations.
The student will be awarded a merit scholarship in September each year. In the first year, the scholarship will be decided on the merit of the pre-entry marks, mid-semester test and attendance in regular classes. Merit scholarships for the consecutive years will be decided based on his/her performance in one end-semester and two mid-semester examinations of each year.

The scholarship will consist of a percentage refund of fees. Each combination will be considered for two merit scholarships. Combinations with more than one section will be considered proportionately.
 
The fee refund / reduction will be considered as follows.

Students in the fee range of :

Upto to Rs. 10,000 – 50%
Rs. 10,000-Rs 25,000 – 25% 
Above Rs. 25,000 – 10%
 
Scholarship for Financial Assistance: Students choosing to avail of this scholarship must apply to the Office of Awards and Scholarships with supporting documents. A student who enrolls in the first year degree or P.G. course who is economically weak but diligent, especially from rural areas is eligible to apply. He/she should furnish enough evidence of his/her eligibility enclosing community/ income certificate from an official not below the ranks of a revenue inspector. Applications will be scrutinised, and a final interview with or without a parent/guardian by the scholarship committee will decide his/her eligibility.
 
Students seeking this scholarship at the time of admission are expected to fill up a separate application for scholarship available along with their main application form and submit to the Office of Scholarships for perusal. The scholarship committee will then interview them on the allotted dates, and their concessions will be decided prior to the payment of their fees. The percentage of concession for different categories is recommended as follows:

Self financing courses – 0-50%
Others- -0-90%
 
A bond to the effect that the student will refund the scholarship amount if he or she leaves the university in between is to be executed.

For subsequent years, application forms must be availed from the Office of Awards and Scholarships from November 30th to 22nd December and submitted to the Office by the 20th of January for scrutiny.

Installment Facility in Christ University

Students unable to pay their fees in one installment can avail this facility by filling a prescribed application form available in the Office of Admissions. Such applications can be processed through the office of scholarships on specified dates. This facility needs to be applicable only in cases where the total fee is above Rs.10000/-. The students must pay the installments on the days prescribed by the office in one or two installments.

Installments for PG courses will be monitored by the departments.

Campus Life in Christ University

Given that you have had time to wrap your head around the rules and regulations of CU, it’s one of the best campuses to foster yourself academically, intellectually, socially and come out as a whole new person. The campus is huge enough for the vast number of students to have a quiet or fun moment of their own. CU has many clubs where you can join. Make sure you’re a part of a few as you’ll get to meet like minded, friendly people from all over the country with whom you can have gifted banters on books, movies, quantum physics and anything that catches your eye.

As the main campus is not located far from the residential areas of the city, there are plenty of places to drink/eat/hangout when the mood strikes. If you are looking for constancy in your palette and flavors, there are several options available outside the campus, depending on your pocket.

Hostel Life in Christ University 

The Christ University hostels are incredibly lush and comfortable to stay.It comes with a set of stringent rules that one needs to abide by whether they like it or not. The fathers keep a strict eye on all hostelities and have zero tolerance for consumption of alcohol and cigarettes inside the campus. All electronic gadgets are allowed inside the hostels, be it a laptop, camera, tablet and you are also allowed to keep up with your music practice involving instruments, within a certain limit. Weekend leaves are granted to boarders after they have applied for it and have received a written confirmation from the father. Attendance at hostel is closely monitored and one must be inside by 9 pm sharp. In case you decide to take off for a night and chill at your friend’s PG, a fax will be send to your family intimating them about the same.

Academics and Faculty in Christ University 

CU takes its academics very seriously, so prepare yourself to work hard or perform decorously to the least. There are continuous Internal Assignments and at times you may feel flabbergasted. But worry not you’ll deal with it gradually. The professors are great and  they have excellent dominion knowledge, so it’s good to maintain a great rapport with them to make the best of your time at CU.

Cultural Activities in Christ University 

Christ University provides you endless possibilities for creative outlet with fests, activities, workshops and competitions being organized at a regular basis. There is hardly a week in CU that goes without a fest or competition being hosted by one of the many departments in the varsity. The fest will take you to a different world itself with its colourful props and theme based decorations organized with exceptional care and dedication by the students.

Darpan, In Print, Blossoms, Mangovite, Swad, Maadyam, Dance Extravaganza, Esprit Vistas, Campus Connect, In Bloom are some of the popular fests that takes place annually. On a regular basis, street plays and campus fairs are pretty common. Flash Mobs and beat boxing are a regular activity in the campus especially during the lunch hours. The official Choir of Christ University is exceptionally talented and an integral part of various fests that are organized. Thus practice hard if you want to be a part of this prestigious group.
