The Parsonage Garden at Nuenen in Winter by Van Gogh 30 x24 Canvas Art

Vincent Van Gogh was astoundingly prolific, producing all of his works during a short 10-year period. Although he only sold one painting in his lifetime, he inspired numerous future artistic movements. In April 1884, Van Gogh mentions his first three pen and ink drawings made of the garden of the Nuenen vicarage. The sheets depict the garden of his father's house in spring of that year - most likely in March - before the trees began to bud. He made another three drawings during the course of April. The late winter landscape and the lonesome church are symbols of Van Gogh's inner isolation. The primary motif of the drawing comprises the bare trees standing in the foreground, enormous and with gnarled trunks.
