PREM ROG revolves round a poor orphan Deodhar, nephew of a village priest who in childhood taught Manorama Thakurs only daughter how to read and write. The benevolent Thakur helped him to go to town for higher studies. When he returned to the village after eight years he was so captivated by her that he fell victim to that eternal melody of love. But he could not muster enough courage to express his love. How could a pauper like him ever dream of winning a princess? His cousin warned him against having such dreams. Manoram was unaware of Deodhars emotions. So when her marriage was arranged with a rich handsome Thakur she was really happy. But fate dealt a cruel blow to her. And the rich aristocratic family to which she belonged instead of sympathizing with her plight made her life miserable. Deodhar dejected had already reconciled himself to reality. When he saw Manoramas suffering he could no longer remain an idle spectator. He was out to help her and revive her faith in life and love. But little did he know that in doing so he will have to face the wrath of the powerful Thakur armed with aged old traditions and customs in their favour. Could a poor youth fight against the mighty Thakurs and win, though his cause was just? Was love in his case just a malady or matter of faith and justice? To these question the stirring climax in PREM ROG will provide the answer.
