World’s most beautiful cities for a romantic getaway

Everyone loves the peace and serenity of beautiful hill stations, beaches and so on. Every time we get to an edge of deciding our next travel destination, we go through quite a long and bumpy roller coaster of dilemma. Some people quench their wanderlust in the mountains, some on the islands or in some cases, maybe in an urban city. If you seek a sweet getaway to the most mesmerizing and astonishing cities in the word than get ready for the most memorable trips of all times. The beauty of their architectures and culture are just irresistible. This time I’ve shortlisted some of the most beautiful cities that are meant to be visited for at least once in lifetime.

1. Florence, Italy

Florence is synonymous with the Italian Renaissance, known for the artistic heritage in its palaces and museum collections. Yet with all the beauty both inside and outside its palazzi’s walls, it is the city as a whole that impresses the most. See it from Piazzale Michelangelo, a 19th century terrace overlooking the entire city, and you’ll be looking at one of the most storybook-perfect cityscapes. You’ll see its unspoiled skyline, the towers and domes of the heart of the city, its bridges, the hills in the distance, and the magnificent Duomo standing in the middle of it all. Few other places in the world will leave you as awestruck.

2. Paris, France

Paris, the city of lights and sweet, sweet love! Is there a city more dramatic than Paris? It’s a place where romance and history play side by side, cafes line cobblestone streets, beautiful people stroll the Seine at all hours, and every neighborhood seems to have its own iconic landmark, be it Notre Dame, Sacre-Coeur, or the Eiffel Tower. Paris’ city parks are amongst the finest in any large city, including the Jardin du Luxembourg and Jardin des Tuileries and Jardin des Plantes. The beautiful churches and buildings of the city are too numerous to mention.

3. London, U.K.

London is one of the most vibrant cities in the world, with history (Westminster Abbey) and models of modernity (London Eye, The Gherkin) mingling on the Thames. Art and literature seem to seep out of the city’s walls—and in recent years, London has glammed up even more, with contemporary art galleries and boutique retailers adding some glimmer to formerly seedy areas.

4. Bruges, Belgium

It’s a small city, in a small country, hardly a metropolis, but huge on beauty. It’s one of the world’s best preserved medieval cities, filled with gothic and baroque monuments surrounded by an oval canal and extraordinarily romantic cobbled lanes. It’s no wonder that it is one of Europe’s most visited cities, helped by its location in the very center of the continent. Its combination of gorgeous architecture and pretty, peaceful spots crisscrossed by canals make it one of the most magical sites to be experienced in the world.

5. Amsterdam, Netherlands

Amsterdam is the city that is well known as the “Venice of North”. The city is packed fully with beautiful canals, relaxing charms and parks. If you are one who likes to enjoy your life without the bustle and hustle, then Amsterdam is the place that you can choose. The beautiful monuments, apartments, offices, restaurants and cafes are known for the progression of the city. The following are the attractions in the city; these made the Amsterdam to enter into the list of most beautiful cities in the world.

6. Rome, Italy

The city standing on seven hills by the Tiber River is a treasure-trove of monuments among some of the most beautiful squares and classical architecture in the world. Because everyone visits Rome for its landmarks, its picturesque streets are often overlooked, such as those of the Trastevere district, filled with charming lanes, faded palazzi, and lovely homes decorated with flower boxes. It is on streets like those that Rome proves itself to really be eternal.

7. Venice, Italy

Venice is the most beautiful city in the world, and the only one that can truly be described as unique. Each building is a work of art, with their beauty enhanced when reflected on the canals that cross the city. Its magical scenery is fascinating and breathtaking at first sight, evoking the feeling of entering the setting of a real-life fairy tale. It’s perhaps even unfair to all other cities to call Venice a city, as it is a place unlike any other and that no other can compare to, or ever be like.

8. Prague, Czech Republic

Nowhere on earth is more Bohemian than Prague, the former capital of Bohemia and current capital of the Czech republic. Having a history of over 1000 years, it’s little wonder that the architecture of the city is so magnificent. Nowhere is this more striking than staring at the spires from the Charles Bridge over the Vltava river, which connects Prague Castle and the city’s old town. From here the view to ‘The City Of A Hundred Spires’ is quite simply stunning.

9. Budapest, Hungary

With some of the best Art Nouveau architecture in Europe, scenic Budapest has no bad angles. Széchenyi Chain Bridge offers magnificent views of the Danube River—especially at night. Moreover, it’s the only capital city in the world that’s rife with healing, thermal waters (hence its nickname, “The City of Baths”).

10. Jaipur, India

Rajasthan’s capital, aka the Pink City, isn’t the kind of city to hide its true colors. It’s been called flamboyant, and a site of pilgrimage for anyone even vaguely interested in shopping and, more importantly, discovering India’s inimitable material culture. India is almost unique in the world for the number and diversity of things that it still makes by hand—artisanry is a fact of daily life here, rather than an exception to it.

11. Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

The city is blessed with one of the most stunning settings in the world, making it the most naturally beautiful city in the world. Even if it was deserted of buildings and population, anyone standing at the top of the famous Sugarloaf Mountain or by the Corcovado statue would see one of the world’s most beautiful landscapes. Green, tropical luxuriance mixes with the blue of the ocean and the brightness of the sand at the beaches, proving that this is indeed “the marvelous city” as locals call it.

12. Kyoto, Japan

Take a step back in time in Kyoto, Japan’s imperial capital, where you can visit 10th-century temples and pass young geishas in the street. One of the most well-preserved cities in Japan, Kyoto has approximately 1,600 Buddhist temples and 400 Shinto shrines, each more likely to entrance than the next.

13. Cape Town, South Africa

Majestic beaches, designer influence in architecture and the breathtaking Table Mountain are just a few among the reasons why this most cosmopolitan of South African cities is the perfect travel destination. To add to this beauty is Cape Town’s unparalleled biological heritage. The city is the world’s most bio-diverse, and has more plant species than New Zealand.

14. Vienna, Austria

Artistic, exquisite, and largely shaped by its musical and intellectual foundations, Austria’s capital and largest city is packed with culture. Make time to get a figurative taste of royalty at Schönbrunn, the Habsburgs’ former summer residence, and get an actual taste of Sachertorte, a chocolate cake that is one of the city’s culinary specialties,

15. Stockholm, Sweden

The central city rests on fourteen islands, and is replete with sublime Scandinavian architecture. Stockholms Slott is possibly most dramatic of all, and is the residence of the Swedish Monarchy. Stockholm is one of the world’s most beautiful capitals. It’s also the cultural, political, media, and economic center of Sweden.
