Sayan Sen<\/strong> is a 21 year old student who is pursuing engineering, will leave you mesmerized with his writings. He is a writer at The Terribly Tiny Tales<\/strong>\u00a0and also has an Instagram page by the name ‘An Unsaid Story’<\/strong>. He likes writing about topics which touches one’s heart and awakens one’s soul. Other than writing, he is also a music person which ultimately leads us to the conclusion how much of an art lover he is.<\/p>\n

In a conversation with the writer himself-<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Hello Sayan, for all those who do not know you, tell us something about yourself<\/h3>\n
<\/b>I am a twenty-one year old engineering student from Calcutta, foolishly trying to discover too much music at the same time. When I am not out cursing social media for taking too much of me away from myself, that’s when I try to write sometimes. Also, I play football a lot, I love it as an art form, I love it as a way of life. It has given me more than I could ask for.<\/div>\n

Also, I pet dogs. And try to treat them on the roads if need be. I think there is a need to adopt more of them. Dinner tables are so much better with them trying to steal food from our plates.<\/div>\n

2. How did you get into creative writing? Did you always want to be a writer?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I think it is one of those timeless tales. Art happens to you. You can’t pinpoint a precise time and date, measured and treated with astronomical exactness as to when you started writing. I think one of my earlier brushes with this was when I became fascinated with haunted houses, as a seven-year old (yes, I was and am crazy). So I wrote about them, replacing my abstractness on paper, trying to make the ghosts tell tales beyond my capabilities. Maybe that is how you write, you just do, without inhibition or looking for anything in return. It happens and you let it.<\/p>\n

3. What do you like to write about?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I think most of us are in fact inclined towards a particular genre. I like sad poetry, words that are bound together by longing, letters tiptoeing to the silence of a bygone love.<\/p>\n

4. Do you think a piece of writi<\/strong>ng can change minds and convey ideas?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I wouldn’t be writing at all if I didn’t believe in its magical ability to heal, to bring us together as simple human beings wrought in the same shell of black and white and to believe in things we have never seen or felt. I think my greatest satisfaction has always been knowing that mountains can be moved by a string of vowels and consonants on a piece of paper.<\/p>\n

5. If you had to describe yourself in 3 words, what would it be?<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Very Very Arrogant.<\/div>\n

6. What do you do other than writing? Do you have any hobbies?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I like to play and watch football, analyse the sport. I think I wouldn’t be anywhere near here if it wasn’t for football. Before football happened to me, I used to be a really shy kid. It was life transforming. Apart from that I basically like knowing about things so you’ll find me reading random things on the internet. I like drives but not traveling a lot to be honest. And I love making puns, especially the ones that are spun out of control.<\/p>\n

7. What do you aim for in the next 5 years?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

That is\u00a0too long to be making plans for. Even the government fails at that. I think I want to do a lot of things but maybe we only know we desire things once we actually stumble upon them. So this is an open invitation to life and to the art of living. May the days be bright and may we love the darkness when the night sets in.<\/p>\n

8. What would you like to tell other aspiring writers?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Honestly, I think literature comes as much from the inside as it does from coming in contact with other’s works. There is a way to thinking, it is a process, I believe. You don’t just wake up one day and know the secret to writing. It takes lifetimes and we are all getting there. I think the major thing I have felt along the way is that criticism is the best tonic out there because very often we become content with our content. It is dissatisfaction that triggers art. And that can only be realized through coming in contact with everything that is around us. Read and you will be read.<\/p>\n

9. Do you aim in publishing your works? If you wrote a novel, what would it be about?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I do want to publish something, in years to come. Though I don’t know what, I don’t know where or how. I think it is going to be about human loss, listlessness, agony and the brilliance inside us that helps us reach out to hope and to ourselves in the process. I think I’ll write about the lost and the found.<\/p>\n
