Meet the\u00a0Secretary General<\/strong> of the First international Model United Nations<\/strong> conference in Uzbekistan<\/strong>,\u00a0Tolibjon Mustafoev<\/strong> with innumerable number of awards in International MUN’s in Turkey and other countries. He has grasped the global scenarios of almost all countries in his hands. He is currently a law student<\/strong> of\u00a0Westminster<\/strong> International University in Tashkent<\/strong> and also the Head of the\u00a0Westminster International University Model United Nations Society. Model United Nations is all about committees, agendas and finally forming a draft resolution after actual debates between each and every country associated with it. Heard about the Syrian Crisis ? Do you want to know about what happens inside a committee\u00a0session ? Do you want to know how a country deals with a crisis and national security issues ?<\/p>\n

Let us go directly to Tolibjon who is ready to tell us all about MUN’s
\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Tolibjon- I want to India and Pakistan to resolve their pending issues.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A Delegate comes and shows you that half of the other blocks of the resolution which were copied from S\/RES\/2214? What will you do in such a situation?<\/h3>\n

If I am the chairperson, I will approach the other block and ask them to send the resolution to the DIAS as soon as possible, and if anything is copied as I was informed, I will ask them to change the resolution ( because it’s a Model UN, obviously delegates may copy some information from UN official documents).<\/p>\n

If one delegate gave speeches but didn\u2019t write any clauses and the other wrote most of the resolution but did not speak who would you put ahead and why?<\/h3>\n

The delegate who gave a speech, of course. Because his speech is a result of his preparation and knowledge about the agenda. However, the second person who wrote the most of the resolution may have done it according to the speech of the other delegates or secondary sources.<\/p>\n

U.S\u00a0 wants to introduce an initiative that would reduce NATO\u2019s nuclear arsenal. It is meant to be a proposed reduction change and not a change in doctrine for a stable and secure planet. But countries like Poland and Slovakia have no nuclear arsenal and are solely dependent on American nuclear umbrella. How would \u00a0you as a US delegate guarantee that their safety will still be protected ?<\/h3>\n

As usual, I would verbally explain them that their interests still have privilege and will be of primary importance. It is meant to be a proposed reduction change and not a change in doctrine for a stable and secure planet and they rely on United States for that matter.<\/p>\n

If a delegate presents an absurdly facetious draft resolution but it passes because of internal committee reasons, what would you do and how would you react as a chairperson?<\/h3>\n

First of all, I would not let this resolution pass. I would encourage delegates to work on it and propose changes. Anyways, at the end of the conference I provide comments to everyone, so that it’s time where I can explain to delegates what should they avoid next time or how they should approach the agenda in further conferences.<\/p>\n

The fair and mighty- Tolibjon<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

How would you ensure that the committee is not dominated by the experienced delegates? In my experience, I think that this is the most important question because we see that the experienced delegates speak often, force their decisions and even take up sponsorship while others do not have the chance to even learn how it all works .<\/h3>\n

For this case I have a special technique, it’s called the ‘GSL for all’, where I create a GSL myself as a chairperson. In addition, other delegates willing to speak can also send notes and be added to GSL. So, everyone has an opportunity to speak up.<\/p>\n

Suggest a UNGA-DISEC agenda which doesn\u2019t have anything to do with NPT and IAEA.<\/h3>\n

Issues of disarming terrorist organizations in case of ISIS will serve as the perfect example.<\/p>\n

How is it different chairing normal committee like UNESCO, UNODC ,WHO and chairing commitees like Joint Crisis Committee(JCC) and Security Council?<\/h3>\n

There is a big difference, especially for me because I really enjoy Crisis sessions. One can make Security Council or JCC much more interesting through crisis sessions.<\/p>\n

What would be the basis or justification for U.S. intervention in the Syrian Crisis?\u00a0Will anybody else be involved in the military strikes besides the US and will this affect whether they are \u2018legal\u2019? Do you support the military intervention in the Syrian crisis?<\/h3>\n

I personally support only Russian intervention because they are involved in this war only by the agreement of Syrian Government and their main goal is to provide safety for Syrian nation, but US is a country which accepts its own interests as primary ones. Hence, I do accept interventions in the Syrian crisis, except United States.<\/p>\n

Chairing MUN\u2019s is never an easy task. You actually have to figure out which delegate is making up facts and which delegate has actually done actual research and keep hearing the delegates and marking their substantial and factual chits. How do you cope up with such a hectic schedule during any committee session moreover when it\u2019s a crisis committee or security council ?<\/h3>\n

Yes, you are right, it’s not an easy responsibility. But as a chairperson, I always try to provide all necessary information and external sources myself. It’s made sure that delegate has done all the necessary preparations for the conference.<\/p>\n

Being a delegate of Pakistan how would you manage to oppose any accusations in\u00a0 a committee when the delegate of India accuses you of the Kashmir Issue and internal Terrorism problems ?<\/h3>\n

I don’t want to answer this question, because I’m against Kashmir Crisis. I always try to make these two countries friends during our UN simulations and I hope this day will come and in reality they both will be friends. Peace for Indian- Pakistani relationship.<\/p>\n
