Meet Ayan Ganguly<\/a> , co-founder of Drama Sutra<\/a>, one of the most famous drama troupes of the country \u00a0.<\/p>\n

He was a student of Don Bosco School Park Circus, one of the renowned institutions of the country. Ayan along with his friends founded Drama Sutra when he was in class 11 and in a span of few years has reached the zenith..He has been a part of a team to India Film Project which is Asia’s biggest short film project. Also, in that same year, he performed a mono act at Mood Indigo’16<\/strong> Asia’s biggest College theatre fest.<\/p>\n

Such is the passion, such is the dedication of this young lad !!<\/p>\n

Fruitful moments with Ayan !<\/h3>\n

1.Whom do you consider your role model?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Not anyone particular as such. A lot of people inspire me in a lot of ways. Each very different from the other.<\/p>\n

2. From where did you get the inspiration to start Drama Sutra?<\/h2>\n

It was really unplanned.We started the group in November. If you had asked me about anything close to Drama Sutra even in October, I still would be clueless. When we say we started from the scratch, we mean it, this is how seriously we want people to take us.<\/p>\n

3. How does your family take your success?<\/h2>\n

Actually, after my school got over they got familiarised with the idea of my working in the media industry later in life. So yes, if not greatly positive, they have been pretty receptive of my “success”, if that’s how you put it.<\/p>\n

4. What sort of\u00a0acting roles will you be seeking in the future?<\/h2>\n

I would actually try to do just about anything. But honestly, after 6 years of doing theatre, I realised there are no good actors or bad actors. There are just performers cut out for a certain role and that’s where their forte lies. For example, McCaugnhey was fabulous in Dallas Buyers club but not so much in Wolf of Wall Street. So yes, I’d go for characters that I think are cut out for me.<\/p>\n

<\/h2>\n

5. Talk me through some of your biggest achievements to\u00a0date. Why were these memorable to you, and how did you achieve them?Tell me about a time where you had difficulty with a character. What was the character and why was it challenging?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I have been a part of a team to India Film Project<\/strong> which is Asia’s biggest short film project<\/strong>. Also, that same year I performed a mono act at Mood Indigo’16 Asia’s biggest College theatre fest.<\/strong> Honestly, the latter was the most difficult thing I have ever been a part of as an actor. I literally went through a month’s rigorous routine of practice sessions and gave over 60 trail runs before the actual show. That’s the closest I have ever been to realising how average I’m as an actor. I had 20 smokes a day that month. My usual is 4 a day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I used to record my voice and play it on speaker to get my voice projection clearly. It was the role of mad man from erstwhile Calcutta who suddenly woke up in a modern Kolkata. “My tram lines crying like unpaid whores<\/strong>“. The toughest part was I did this piece with live violin. So basically I had to get my acting attuned to the music that my partner was playing live. I swear, I never felt so fucking average before that. But that actually made me realize what being an actor is all about. It is never ever about the ‘you killed it dude’ after the performances. It’s about your journey to killing it during the performance.<\/p>\n

That journey is not easy. It can never be easy.<\/p>\n

Being role model doesn’t pay. So no way, man. Not Interested.<\/p>\n

Just go for it. You’ll figure the rest out.<\/p>\n
