NIFT Entrance Exam Criteria and details, Description of the components of NIFT Entrance Examination<\/strong><\/h2>\n

NIFT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION CRITERIA AND DETAILS<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Based on the choice, all eligible candidates will have to appear for a written entrance examination at the Examination Centres opted by them. The written entrance examination is designed to test the knowledge, skill and aptitude of the candidates for the programme opted. Entry to the Examination Centre will be allowed with admit cards<\/strong> only. Mobiles and other infotech gadgets are not allowed<\/strong> inside the Examination Centre. Candidates found with mobile or other infotech gadgets will be asked to leave the examination centre and shall be disqualified.Candidates should reach the examination center at least 30 minutes before<\/strong> the commencement of the examination.<\/p>\n

The result of the entrance examination will be displayed on the NIFT<\/a> website<\/strong>.
\nOn the basis of result of written test GAT and CAT, shortlisted B.Des<\/strong> candidates will be called for second test called Situation Test. For B.F.Tech.<\/strong> candidates, GAT will be the final test for selection.
\nThe candidates for M.Des<\/strong> will take GAT and CAT. On the basis of the result of GAT and CAT, in the case of M.Des. and GAT<\/p>\n

In the case of M.F Tech and MFM<\/strong>, candidates will be called for Group Discussion\/Personal Interview<\/strong> (GD\/PI).<\/p>\n

Candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria for admission. Their admission at all the stages of the examination viz. Written Test, Situation Test, Group Discussion and Interview (as the case may be) will be provisional, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility criteria.
\nDuring verification at any time before or after the Written Test, Situation Test, Group Discussion and Interview (as the case may be), if it is found that candidate does not fulfill the eligibility criteria, his\/her candidature for the examination shall stand cancelled without any notice or further reference. NIFT<\/strong> shall not be liable for any consequences on account of such cancellations.The weightage assigned to each test in the final merit list of the entrance examination will be as under.<\/p>\n

DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS OF NIFT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION<\/h2>\n

GENERAL ABILITY TEST (GAT)<\/h3>\n

for Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) and Master of Design (M.Des.)<\/strong><\/p>\n

This test will comprise of various sections as given below:<\/p>\n

1) Quantitative Ability
\n2) Communication Ability
\n3) English Comprehension
\n4) Analytical Ability
\n5) General Knowledge and Current Affair<\/p>\n

The number of questions may vary in each section year to year.<\/p>\n

TEST STRUCTURE FOR GAT<\/h3>\n

1) Quantitative Ability:<\/h3>\n

This sub-test is designed to test the quantitative ability of the candidates. The sub-test may include questions on Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Work and Task, Ratio and Proportion, and Distance.<\/p>\n

2) Communication Ability:<\/h3>\n

This sub-test is aimed at testing the language ability of the candidates in day to day communication in English. It includes questions on synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one word substitutes, idioms and phrases, correct spellings etc.<\/p>\n

3) English Comprehension:<\/h3>\n

This sub-test aims to test the candidate\u2019s ability to comprehend a situation from a given passage, and test of basic English language.<\/p>\n

4) Analytical Ability:<\/h3>\n

This sub-test is designed to test the candidate\u2019s capacity for ability of inference and logic from the given information.<\/p>\n

5) General Knowledge and Current Affairs:<\/h3>\n

This sub-test is designed to test the candidate\u2019s general knowledge and current affairs.<\/p>\n

CREATIVE ABILITY TEST (CAT):<\/h3>\n

This test is administered to judge the intuitive ability, power of observation in concept development and design ability of the candidate. An important aspect of the test is the creative and innovative use of colour and illustration skills.<\/p>\n
