One has often witnessed a steady rise in the cut offs of Delhi University<\/strong><\/a> every year in order to grab a seat in one of it’s prestigious colleges.<\/p>\n

The cut-offs<\/a> have been touching the sky, leading to tough competition between students to get their dream college. Last year it was 99.25%<\/strong> and the year before it was a perfect 100%<\/strong> for some courses. Students in this race will have to face very tough competition, though there would be an increase in number of seats in comparison with last year’s figure which was almost 54,000 <\/strong>in about 63<\/strong> colleges.<\/p>\n

Trend was that, only on-campus colleges came up with high cut offs. But in the past times, even off campus colleges have shown a hike in their cut offs.<\/p>\n

Going by the facts, in 2015, there were two colleges which demanded a perfect 100%<\/strong> score to grant admission to its B.Sc (Hons) Computer Science course. The cut offs have been soaring high to a 98%-99%<\/strong> in some of the most demanded courses like B.Com (hons) and B.A(H) Economics. Shree Ram College of Commerce,<\/strong> infamous for its 100% cut off<\/strong> for B.Com(H) in 2011, lowered the mark to 98.5%<\/strong>. But one must not expect any relaxation below this.<\/p>\n

Most DU colleges in the first cut off<\/strong><\/a> would keep the mark above 96%<\/strong>, especially for B.Com(Hons) and B.A. (H) Economics.<\/p>\n

So it is advisable not to expect figures same as the previous year. A 0.25%-0.75%<\/strong> rise in the cut offs is bound to be. But not more than this because they have already touched the upper limit.<\/p>\n

But rather, the other worrying fact is higher number of students obtaining percentage above 90 and number of applicants for admission<\/a> which nearly doubled last year.<\/p>\n
