Fabulously Planned…Remembered Always : The Story of Purvodaya’17, Annual fest of VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur

Purvodaya is the annual B-School fest of IIT Kharagpur, the next edition of which shall be held on campus in the first week of February 2017. Purvodaya provides a platform for all active clubs of Vinod Gupta School of Management to showcase their events and create a competitive environment for the best minds from B-Schools across the country.

It induces an environment where brainstorming of ideas and testing of business acumen is done. Ever since its inception, being organized by one of the leading B-schools in the country, Purvodaya has seen a huge gathering of business moguls, industry experts, technocrats and students from all over India, who express a keen interest in management and business.

In coversation with Abhu


nav Bhasin, coordinator of Purvodaya’17 :

1. What is core team size and structure of Purvodaya Team?

Purvodaya Core Committee (PCC) as goes the naming convention is a dynamic group of 20 students from first year and 20 students from final year. The committee is the largest out of all the clubs and committees at VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur.

2. Tell us briefly about your team.

We are a group of students from both the years of MBA and possess various specialties and interests. With every member bringing a unique value to the table, team is a strong amalgamation of varied skill sets and together they aim to make Purvodaya bigger and better with each passing year.

3. For how long you start working and planning for Purvodaya? What are the main key areas you focus the most in planning?

Purvodaya is a 3-day fest, but the mood of the festivities keeps its hype all year around. From the beginning of the odd semester, from choosing the fresh members for the committee to the realization of the three days, PCC is always at its toes.

Pertaining to the greatness of each edition and an aim to make it Bigger and Better with each year, every aspect of the festival is grave. The main key focus areas are; Sponsorships, Promotion and the Event structuring.purvodaya team

4. What are the new initiatives you have taken in Purvodaya’2017? Can the audience expect to experience something different from past year fests?

With the mind-set of Bigger and Better Purvodaya 2017, this edition of the festival will uncover an absolute new avatar. Its not just the business events but also the business moguls from the premier brands which rethink the leadership opportunities and trends in the new business world of today at The Leadership Summit.

Also, marking the completion of 25 years, the first and second batch alumni shall become part of The Reminiscence glorifying the beginning of this very management school.

The Marathon run for cancer awareness is one of its kind event and VGSoMites are proud to unveil the best foot forward towards a cancer free nation this year as part of the Purvodaya 2017.

Various non-corporate leaders are Marking their success stories are an inspiration and are welcomed in the non-corporate event – Adhiveshan, this year. A cultural night shall conclude the frenzy Purvodaya 2017 will set in.

6. Share some experience or learning which helped you the most during execution of purvodaya, 2017?

The idea of coming together and realizing such huge event with such small work force in itself is the greatest experience.

7. Tell us something about your Post Fest Grand treat? How do you celebrate & have fun?

Well! It definitely is a GRAND treat after all the arduous efforts by the team. In anticipation of a successful event, the joy of celebration shall definitely be hearty.

8. What are some tips/suggestions you would like to share with the students who are passionate in managing any event/fest in their colleges?

A fest at is not made success just by the organizing committee members but also the complete student fraternity and the participants. Without their involvement, the fest doesn’t meet its goals.
