“All photographs are moments and more. To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s (or thing’s) mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt.”

Today, we feel proud to cover Rahul Singi , a very popular and experienced Photographer in the house of Student Stories. Rahul Singi popularly known as photowale.bapu is more into Street  photography. He believes in capturing souls on the streets and splashing colors through monochrome. Rahul’s work has been exhibited in different platforms across India. His Photographs were recognized by Nikon School and Bangalore Mirror.

“It is a cruel, ironic art- photography. The dragging of captured moments into the future; moments that should have been allowed to evaporate into past; should exist only in memories, glimpsed through the fog of events that came after. Photographs force us to see people before their future weighs them down”.

Ques 1 : When did you discover a photographer in you?

I was trying to shoot since 2012. Once I went on a trip with my friends and there I happened to used my friend’s DSLR for the very first time. After that I decided to buy a camera and started clicking.

Ques 3: Have you done any professional course before coming into this very venture?

No, I have not done any course of photography. I learned every thing by trial and error methods. I’m still trying to learn by going on walks with my fellow photographer friends.

Ques 4: How does it feel when one gets appreciated for their hard work?

Isn’t it a good feeling when one gets appreciated? Yes even I was mesmerized when my photos were hand picked by Nikon and Bangalore Mirror. It was a proud moment for me.

Ques 5: How is a photographer’s vision different from layman’s one?

I think it always depends on one’s vision. I don’t think there lies a difference between layman and photographer. Every human has his/her own creativity, perspective and vision for that matter. I might frame  image from one angle and person next to me can fame from another angle.

Ques 6: Can you tell our readers and aspiring photographers to use different lenses for different purposes?

There are multiple categories for the lenses.
  i. Prime Lens – These lenses are good for Portraits and streets.
ii. Zoom Lens – these lenses are good for candid, streets and wildlife.
iii. Wide angle lens — These lenses are good for streets and landscape.
Above are the three basics criteria for choosing the lens. We can divide this on more sub categories as well. Other factors like aperture value and also VR lens matters.

Ques 7: Which one is your favorite quote and what is Rahul’s key to success?

I read one quote somewhere “Your first 10,000 images are your worse images that you can ever take”. I have noticed people nowadays have started making money very easily in photography. It is easy to make money in photography. But if you want to pursue career in this then please finish your education first, do some course or diploma in photography. If you are hobbyist then take time out, do mistakes, click everything and learn. We have plenty of things to click and learn if you are ready to observe the things around you.So, I believe constant efforts and clear vision will let you to your goals definitely.
