Let your \u201creward\u201d be a 2-minute Facebook break at the end of your hour of work if need be. Once you make this a habit you\u2019ll start to feel calmer and less obsessed with seeing if anyone liked your recent post.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"668\" class=\"wp-image-24802\" src=\"https:\/\/img.paisawapas.com\/ovz3vew9pw\/2020\/09\/08202403\/blog-talking-iphone-Image-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com\/img.paisawapas\/images\/2020\/09\/08202403\/blog-talking-iphone-Image-1.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com\/img.paisawapas\/images\/2020\/09\/08202403\/blog-talking-iphone-Image-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com\/img.paisawapas\/images\/2020\/09\/08202403\/blog-talking-iphone-Image-1-768x513.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2) Set \u201cPhone Boundaries\u201d<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I talk to friends and family after 5pm and on the weekends. Before 5 on weekdays, it\u2019s office hours and everyone knows (and respects) that. It\u2019s not a time to chat about making plans or catching up. I talk to clients between 10-4pm on weekdays only. Before 10am, I\u2019m working on email and preparing for the day, after 4pm I am winding down for the last hour of the day. I *never* talk to leads or clients on nights and weekends unless it\u2019s an absolutely emergency. And guess what, everyone respects that schedule (and if anything, it inspires them to get more balance in their lives too!)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3) Download the \u201c7M Workout\u201d App (or one similar)<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If you work online, and watch tv at night you\u2019re probably averaging a whopping 3,000 steps a day (not nearly the recommended 10,000 we\u2019re all supposed to get each day!). When we aren\u2019t physically active, we get distracted much more easily. We also feel sluggish, can\u2019t pay attention and struggle to stay present. Who wants to live like that?! So try being active for 7 minutes once per hour. Hey, I was grouchy about it at first too, but then I got used to it and now I can\u2019t work without it!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"864\" height=\"486\" class=\"wp-image-24804\" src=\"https:\/\/img.paisawapas.com\/ovz3vew9pw\/2020\/09\/08202420\/Phones_SamanthaMoya_March2018-864x486-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com\/img.paisawapas\/images\/2020\/09\/08202420\/Phones_SamanthaMoya_March2018-864x486-1-1.jpg 864w, https:\/\/s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com\/img.paisawapas\/images\/2020\/09\/08202420\/Phones_SamanthaMoya_March2018-864x486-1-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com\/img.paisawapas\/images\/2020\/09\/08202420\/Phones_SamanthaMoya_March2018-864x486-1-1-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 864px) 100vw, 864px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4) Write Our Your Goals for the Day + Set Incentives<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>There are lots of strategy options here, but either way, they\u2019re critical to success. You could\u2026<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Write down your \u201cMUST DO\u201d tasks, and do those first before you\u2019re allowed to check Facebook, or turn on your phone, or listen to music etc. Then you know you got the important stuff done for the day.<\/li>\r\n<li>Write down to-do\u2019s and setup some sort of reward (like watching your fav tv show that night) AND punishment (like NOT watching your fav tv show that night) based on if you accomplish your work or not. You may need an incentive to stay on track!<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5) Do or Don\u2019t Do Music<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I personally thrive on listening to music. It helps me focus and keeps me relaxed. If you\u2019re the same, get Spotify and keep the tunes rolling. If music distracts you then get rid of it!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1000\" class=\"wp-image-24806\" src=\"https:\/\/img.paisawapas.com\/ovz3vew9pw\/2020\/09\/08202437\/STOPGETTINGDISTRACTED-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com\/img.paisawapas\/images\/2020\/09\/08202437\/STOPGETTINGDISTRACTED-1.jpeg 1000w, https:\/\/s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com\/img.paisawapas\/images\/2020\/09\/08202437\/STOPGETTINGDISTRACTED-1-300x300.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com\/img.paisawapas\/images\/2020\/09\/08202437\/STOPGETTINGDISTRACTED-1-150x150.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com\/img.paisawapas\/images\/2020\/09\/08202437\/STOPGETTINGDISTRACTED-1-768x768.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com\/img.paisawapas\/images\/2020\/09\/08202437\/STOPGETTINGDISTRACTED-1-70x70.jpeg 70w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6) Exercise Your Awareness Muscle<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If you\u2019re distracted easily, you\u2019re not aware or disciplined enough to control it. By exercising your awareness muscle you\u2019ll start to instantly notice when you\u2019ve veered off track and started doing mindless web surfing or unnecessary organizing. If you nip it in the bud from the get-go, you\u2019ll save yourself hours. If we don\u2019t pay attention, we could lose an hour web surfing, or two hours organizing. It\u2019s all about catching yourself early on.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7) Get Control of Your Email Inbox<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This is one of our biggest distractions! Some ideas for you:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Get Active Inbox (for Gmail lovers) and you\u2019ll thank me every day moving forward!<\/li>\r\n<li>STOP subscribing to email lists that you don\u2019t really, really, really want to be on<\/li>\r\n<li>Unsubscribe to email lists that aren\u2019t serving you any longer (if you haven\u2019t paid attention to the last 3 emails sent, what makes you think you\u2019ll magically look at them moving forward?)<\/li>\r\n<li>Consider separating work from personal emails<\/li>\r\n<li>Consider only checking email every 3 hours or at another set time throughout the day<\/li>\r\n<li>Make sure you\u2019ve put everything you want into one email for the person you\u2019re sending to (because if you forgot something, you\u2019ll send 2 or 3 emails \u2013 then get 2 or 3 replies \u2013 yikes!)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Most times, if we really look at what\u2019s distracting us there are EASY to implement solutions that will make us feel MUCH better.
