\u201cChange is an inevitable part of your college life.\u201d And that might be for a better cause. Before you leave\u00a0for college, all of your older friends and your parents are telling you how much the experience will\u00a0probably change you. You think you\u2019re perfect already, so why would college change you at all? You\u00a0know who you are, you know what you want (or at least pretend to know). The college application\u00a0process itself helped you learn more about yourself than freshmen year ever could.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m here to tell you that you\u2019re probably wrong. At the end of your freshmen year, you will change in\u00a0small, subtle ways that only your parents notice at first. Then, old friends notice. Suddenly, YOU notice!<\/p>

Little later does it hit and you go like \u2018DAMN! I\u2019m not who I was a year ago\u2019. So, here\u2019s a list of moments\u00a0when you realize how much you\u2019ve grown.<\/p>\n

1. When you have a sense of self-discovery!<\/h3>\n

You find new horizons of your own self that you would have never imagined. You know your\u00a0likes and dislikes now.<\/p>\n

2. When you literally NEED coffee.<\/h3>\n

Finals week had me like…caffeine. Now. Need. Now.<\/p>\n

3. When you start scheduling naps into your schedule.<\/h3>\n

No, I\u2019m busy. That\u2019s when my nap time is.<\/p>\n

4. When you don\u2019t have to be asked to help with the dishes at home.<\/h3>\n

Partially because you\u2019re becoming an adult, partially because you don\u2019t have a dishwasher\u00a0back at hostel and home is a luxury now.<\/p>\n

5. When you are passionate about something nobody else understands.<\/h3>\n

You\u2019re starting to find unique things that you are passionate about and want to pursue.\u00a0You\u2019re finding yourself.<\/p>\n

6. When you feel okay sitting down in public spaces alone.<\/h3>\n

Eating in a huge dining hall alone really isn\u2019t bad at all.<\/p>\n

7. When something you learned from a professor applies to real life.<\/h3>\n

The realization leaves you mind blown.<\/p>\n

8. When you have a falling out with your first friend in college.<\/h3>\n

It will happen, and it is okay. College is a time to be choosy about who you hang out with.<\/p>\n

9. When you become opinionated about world issues.<\/h3>\n

This is when you find yourself debating at 3 A.M with your friends and are not afraid to put your\u00a0opinions out in the front because you feel so strongly about the issue.<\/p>\n

10. When you call your parents and tell them everything.<\/h3>\n

The good, the bad, and the ugly. College is the time when you start building a mature\u00a0relationship with your parents where they tend to understand that you are growing and coming to par\u00a0with the real world issues and listens to you and vice versa. You are no more that annoying stubborn\u00a0teenager.<\/p>\n

11. When you realize there\u2019s only a few friends you want to see this summer.<\/h3>\n

You feel entirely okay seeing two friends this summer anyway.<\/p>\n

12. When someone who knows you really well says that you\u2019ve changed.<\/h3>\n

At first you deny it, but then, you\u2019re like, yeah. I have. For the better.<\/p>\n
