This generation has the same appearance as the fourth, with a mostly spherical form (there is a flat base so it doesn&#8217;t roll about) and a mesh cloth covering half of it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hardware of the Echo Dot is somewhat restricted because the majority of its unique capability is provided by software. A power connector for the included AC adaptor is on the back, and there is a single speaker on the front that is hidden by fabric. I&#8217;ve never called and the speaker didn&#8217;t answer when I said &#8220;Alexa.&#8221; When the music is playing, it can hear me even when I whisper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you start making more complex queries, the virtual assistant could become a little confused, but it&#8217;s still quite forgiving. Each Skill you install in the program will have a list of commands you can utter, so even if you pronounce the prepackaged sentence slightly incorrectly, it typically still works.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Low-medium volume also produces an excellent sound from the speaker. Although you can&#8217;t just put it everywhere and expect to get nice sound because it is fairly directional, it doesn&#8217;t sound half terrible in most rooms. There is undoubtedly a slight concentration on the bass region, but not to the point where you&#8217;d have trouble hearing other sounds indoors. Since this isn&#8217;t an outdoor speaker, there is no need for an outdoor frequency response. Although it sounds okay at low to medium volumes, turning up the Echo Dot quickly makes it seem like a blown-out disaster. The Echo Dot is okay for an office or a kitchen, but it&#8217;s definitely not going to be a trustworthy part of a real audio system, and it won&#8217;t be much assistance at parties either.
